Portland Puzzle Exchange News

Greetings Puzzlers!

  • Our next exchange is a “NE Exchange” and will take place this Saturday, March. 2, 2024, 11am-1pm at the Matt Dishman Community Center in NE Portland (77 NE Knott St. Portland, OR 97212)

  • The next “Tualatin Exchange” will be on Monday, March 18, 2024, 7-9pm at the Winona Grange Hall (8340 SW Seneca Street, Tualatin, OR 97062)

As always, you are welcome to participate at either (or both) locations and it is okay to pick up puzzles at one location and return them to another.

We have so many new members and are seeing some amazing new puzzles at the exchanges! It can be a little hectic when you first arrive and maybe a little confusing if you’re new to the exchanges, so here’s the skinny on what puzzles go where.

  • Take “FIRST-TIME PUZZLES” to the front table for check-in. First-time puzzles are puzzles which have never been to either Portland Puzzle Exchange before and may meet any of the following criteria:

    • No Portland Puzzle Exchange sticker on the box.

    • Loose, unbagged pieces inside the box.

    • Never-opened, brand new puzzle (it happens!)

  • Take “RETURNING PUZZLES” directly to the trading tables. No need to stop at the check-in table if you are returning puzzles which meet the following criteria:

    • Pieces are already in ziploc-style bags.

    • There is a Portland Puzzle Exchange sticker on the box

  • Whether first-time or returning, please do not bring any puzzles with missing pieces!

Note about tracking sheets: Turns out more and more people are interested in using the tracking sheets (puzzle logs) to share their notes/impressions/etc. with other puzzlers. The sheets have not been put in boxes at the NE Exchange until recently, but will be added to all First-time puzzles going forward. If you select a puzzle which doesn’t have a tracking sheet you can pick one up at the check-in table.

Wooden Puzzle Lovers? The NE Puzzle Exchange is helping feed wooden puzzle cravings.  We currently have a list of 30 puzzles and their owners who are willing to do swaps but maintain ownership.  Contact Karen at info@portlandpuzzles.org if you are interested. The Lake Oswego Library has a collection of wooden puzzles for check-out, and you do not have to live in  Lake Oswego to have access to these.

Have a safe week and we look forward to seeing you on Saturday!
